Using Hide My IP

To begin using the program, double-click the Hide My IP program icon from the desktop or the Start Menu. You will then see the Hide My IP icon in the task tray, it will look like this:

At this point, your IP is not hidden. To hide your IP address, you may:

1. Right-click the tray icon and select "Hide My IP", OR
2. Double-click the tray icon and press the "Hide My IP" button.

Hide My IP will then search for an available fake IP address, which may take anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds.

Displaying Your IP

When a fake is found, the top part of the main window will look like this:

The IP that websites will see will always be shown in large white letters.  Below that, if you are hiding your IP, more information is shown such as your real IP, the location of the fake IP, if encryption mode is on or off, and other alerts or notifications.  Clicking the

The Quick Settings Box

Easily adjust the most commonly used settings in the Quick Settings box on the main window: 

Change IP Every X Minutes
Automatically change your IP every few minutes (as frequently as one minute).

Launch On Startup
Runs Hide My IP automatically each time your computer starts and hides your IP address using your selected settings.

Clear Cookies When IP Changes
This feature requires you have purchased and installed Cookie Crumble 2009.  Each time your IP changes, Cookie Crumble will work with Hide My IP to clear your cookies.

Require US Based IP
When checked, will use only IP addresses located in the United States as your fake IP.

Use SmartSwitch to Obtain New IPs
Increases the randomness fake IPs found during searching. This setting is recommend.

Encrypt My Connection
Encrypts all data transferred between applications you are hiding your IP with, using secure encryption.  Works with all web browsers, E-mail clients, instant messengers, games, and many other kinds of programs.  Even data from non-secure websites will be encrypted.  Using this setting is recommended if you are on an unsecured Internet connection such as a free WiFi network or if you want to prevent your Internet Service Provider, government, or boss from spying on your internet traffic.

Premium High-Speed Service

If you have a subscription to our Premium Service, you will see the bottom part of the main Hide My IP window as shown below.  Using the settings in this window, you may turn the Premium Service on or off, select your country and location, or tell Hide My IP to always use the same IP each time you run Hide My IP. 

The Tray Icon Menu

To easily access the tray menu, simply right-click the Hide My IP icon in the task bar (see image below).  The tray menu allows you to easily access many features of Hide My IP.

Advanced Settings - Web Browsers

The Web Browsers tab allows you to configure Hide My IP settings specific to your web browsers. Each of the web browser settings is described below.

Enable Other Known Browsers
When checked, your IP will be hidden in less common browsers such as Lolifox, Maxthon, and Advant browsers.

Enable Legacy Mode
Checking this box will cause Hide My IP to use a different method of hiding your IP address. Use this setting only if you are currently having problems hiding you IP address.  When Legacy Mode in enabled, your IP will not be hidden with any browsers in the "Enable Other Known Browsers" setting nor any programs in the Premium list of Additional Supported Programs. The "Encrypt My Connection" setting will also not be available.

Enable Hide My IP For Selected Browsers
You may select to hide your IP with some web browsers and not others.  Simply check the boxes next to the icons of the web browsers you would like to hide your IP with.

Hide User Agent
Choose the user agent that Hide My IP will send to websites instead of your real one. You may also create your own user agent by typing it in the box below.  Be careful using this setting, as some websites may deny you access if you provide a false user agent or no user agent.

Hide Referrer Header
By default, your web browser tells each website you visit where you came from.  When this setting is checked, Hide My IP will tell your web browser to hide which website you came from while web browsing. Be careful using this setting, as some websites may not show images or display correctly if you block your Referrer Header.

Advanced Settings - IP Addresses

The IP Address tab allows you to configure IP related settings. Each of the IP settings features is described below.

IP Address Preferences

Always Use US Based IP
When checked, will use only IP addresses located in the United States as your fake IP.

Change IP Every X Minutes

Obtain IP Addresses From

Choose your type of IP address:

Our High-Speed Premium Service - Selects IPs from our pool of Premium and Standard IP for maximum possible IPs.

Hide My IP Network - Selects IPs from our pool of Standard IPs, managed my My Privacy Tools.

Open Network IP Addresses - Selects IPs from our list of open/public IPs, which may be the slowest type of IP.

Require Secure Server Support For Open Network IPs - Many websites with login pages or order forms require a secure connection, requiring that your browser support HTTPS pages and SSL certificates. Some open network IPs do not support secure servers. Checking this box will tell Hide My IP to only find open network IPs that support secure servers. This setting applies only if you check the box "Use Open Network IP Addresses".


Discarded IPs

This feature allows you to add any IP to your discard list and prevent it from being used again.  You may add IPs to the discarded IP list be clicking the red X next to the large IP in white letters on the main window or by setting and pressing the Discard Current IP hotkey.  Hide My IP will never use IPs from this list again until you remove them from the list.
